User guide - geographical (mapping) search
Getting started with a geographical search is easy. You will be presented with a map of Queensland on the left hand side of your screen and an Information Results/Detailed Information area on the right had side of your screen. (Depending on the settings of your computer, the Information Results/Detailed Information area may be located below the map.)
After a search is performed, the Information Results area will display a list of services that meet the search criteria. Clicking on the Centre in Map link will reposition the map so that the selected service is in the centre of the map. The Information Results area, the Detailed Information area and the map can be printed as required.
Mapping tools
The mapping tools are located just above the map. Using the mapping tools you can zoom in to different areas of the map, pan/reposition to map, select details, search for services and print relevant information.

Zoom In - select this tool and click with your left mouse button and drag your mouse pointer over a particular area to zoom in to the required area. (Note - no services are selected using this function) |

Zoom Out - select this tool and click with your left mouse button at a point on the map to zoom out from the map. The location clicked will be the new centre of the map. |

Pan - select this tool and click and hold with your left mouse button whilst you move the map to the position required. Release the mouse button. The map will be redrawn. |

Home - click on this tool to return to the map of Queensland. (It is recommended that the deselect tool is used in conjunction with the home tool to clear the search results from previous searches.) |

Point Select - select this tool and click on the map to locate services at a particular location, or select this tool and click on the name of a service to display relevant information. |

Circle Select - select this tool and click and hold with your left mouse button to draw a circle over the relevant area of the map. Details on all child care services located within the circle will be displayed in the Information Results Area. |

Rectangle Select - select this tool and click and hold with your left mouse button to draw a rectangle over the relevant area of the map. Details on all child care services located within the rectangle will be displayed in the Information Results Area. |

Deselect - use this tool to clear any areas selected using circle select or rectangle select, or to clear the search results from previous searches. It is recommended that this tool be used in conjunction with the home tool. |

Search - use this tool to search for child care services using the name, street address or location. Access detailed instructions on how to use the search facilities. |

Legend - select this tool to display a legend of symbols used on the maps. |

Print - use this tool to print the map as displayed on screen. Access additional printing options. |

Layer Control - use this tool to deactivate certain mapping attributes (for example, street names) |
