How we work
We deliver a wide range of human services to Queenslanders who are vulnerable or need support to help overcome difficulties they may be experiencing, and to build strong communities.
To enable our department to build strong communities, we have established a number of strategic objectives designed to respond to key challenges and opportunities. These strategic objectives help to guide our department in delivering the right services with the right partners in the right way.
Our strategic objectives are grouped into the following four areas:
- Our stakeholders – consist of Queensland communities, families and individuals, government and non-government service providers and other non-government agencies for the delivery of quality human services.
The strategic objectives are:
- Providing quality services for children and families.
- Helping young people achieving their potential.
- Supporting seniors who are valued and active.
- Providing quality community and individual support services.
- Supporting active and engaged communities.
- Providing access to responsive government services and information.
- Delivering effective coordination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy, engagement and service delivery.
- Internal processes – our internal processes underline the achievement of positive outcomes for our stakeholders.
The strategic objectives are:
- Maintaining a contemporary policy and program framework.
- Leading the development of client-centred service systems.
- Leading the delivery of services which make a positive difference for Indigenous communities.
- Building strong non-government organisation relationships.
- Leveraging strategic partnerships with community, corporate and government sectors.
- Providing evidence-based and culturally competent services.
- Streamlining governance and business processes.
- Workforce capability and organisational development – to implement our internal processes well, we need an effective workforce and a high performing organisation.
The strategic objectives are:
- Planning, attracting and developing a capable workforce.
- Building a healthy, supportive and engaging workplace.
- Resource management – our commitment to improving our productivity is ongoing. We must make the best possible use of our resources to meet the needs of Queensland’s communities.
The strategic objectives are:
- Maximising the use of resources.
We measure our success by the extent to which we achieve our strategic objectives. Our progress towards achieving our strategic objectives is reported in our annual report.
