Funding calendar
This calendar provides information about funds available to the non-government sector from January – December 2008. Funding initiatives have been listed by the anticipated announcement date of funding availability. The calendar will be updated regularly with any revised information.
July 2008
Sponsorship funding
Sponsorship will be considered for initiatives, events and activities that are outside the scope of funding provided to assist eligible organisations to deliver human services, and educational and preventative activities.

Funding for Community Door website development and management
The Department of Communities has up to $250,000 per annum available to engage an organisation or consortium of organisations to provide a range of capacity building services to Queensland’s non-government organisation sector.
The grant is to support the management of the Community Door website. Management of the website will require the promotion, maintenance and development of website resources, information and tools.
This website is a ‘one-stop shop’ developed specifically for Queensland’s Non-government organisations (NGOs). It provides access to tools, resources, services and information to support NGOs with organisational management activities such as human resource management, finances, marketing, administration and governance.

Stafford-Bracken Ridge Family Support Funding Initiative
The Department of Communities is providing total funding of $129,000 in 2008 – 2009 for an eligible non-government organisation to provide a family support service in the Stafford and Bracken Ridge areas of the Greater Brisbane region.
These one off funds will be allocated for a family support service within the Stafford and Bracken Ridge catchment. The new service will assist vulnerable families and children experiencing problems that impact on their personal, social or emotional wellbeing and safety.
The goal is to respond early to the known risks or problems and to maximise wellbeing in both the immediate and longer term.

National Youth Week 2009 Grants
The Department of Communities has $70,000 available to assist young Queenslanders and community organisations wishing to host National Youth Week events across the state.
The grants are to support events and provide an opportunity for young people and the broader community to celebrate the achievements and contributions of young Queenslanders.

Building Rural Links funding initiative 2008-09
The Department of Communities is providing funding as one-off grants to assist in the development or implementation of business cases for creating or expanding collaborative partnerships. The Building Rural Links funding will improve the quality and efficiency of services provided.
The funding is available to consortia which must be formed around a lead organisation that is currently funded by one the Queensland Government’s human service agencies and provide services within the Blueprint for the Bush catchment area across Queensland.

Browns Plains Early Years Centre
Non-government organisations are invited to apply for triennial funding of up to $1.3 million per annum to operate an Early Years Centre to be established in Browns Plains.
The funding is aimed at providing high quality, integrated early childhood education and care, health and family services for families expecting a child or with children aged up to eight years.

Bowen Youth Development Service Funding
The Department of Communities is providing funds totalling $59,340 per annum to 30 June 2009 to eligible organisations to implement programs in Bowen, which improve young people’s well-being by enhancing opportunities for their community participation.
The Bowen Youth Development Service Grant is available to eligible organisations with the capacity to implement youth support programs in Bowen that strengthen the community’s ability to respond to the social, cultural and economic needs of its young people.

Supporting Neighbourhood and Community Centres Funding Initiative (3)
The Department of Communities recently advertised funding available for equipment upgrades or assets to support the work of neighbourhood and community centres in providing prevention and early intervention initiatives.
This funding round has been extended due to disaster recovery operations throughout Queensland.

Redlands-Bayside Child Care and Family Support Hub

To provide a Child Care and Family Support Hub service in the Redland-Bayside area, including the islands in Moreton Bay, to respond to the needs of children, young people and families with a particular focus on children aged between 0-8 years.

Our Place, Our Future Funding Initiative

Youth Engagement Grants
The Department of Communities has grants of $200,000 per year available over two years to support community groups to facilitate regional youth engagement initiatives across Queensland.
The grants are to support youth forums that raise awareness of issues faced by young people and youth-led projects to address the needs of young people raised in these forums.

Stafford/Bracken Ridge Family Support Service
The Department of Communities has funding available for family support service across Stafford and Bracken Ridge in the Greater Brisbane Region. These services will address the needs of children, parents and families by enhancing the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable families and children (aged 0–8 years) in the Stafford and Bracken Ridge catchment area. This may include families at risk of experiencing family dysfunction, mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic and family violence, and other issues that impact on individual and family wellbeing. The goal is to respond early to known risks or problems and to maximise wellbeing in both the immediate and longer term.

Neighbourhood and Community Centres
The Department of Communities has funding available for neighbourhood and community centres across Queensland. These funds will address the needs of individuals, families and community groups by providing grants for equipment upgrades to support the work of neighbourhood and community centres in providing prevention and early intervention initiatives which build community capacity.

Redcliffe Youth and Community Combined Action program
To address the needs of young people between 10-17 years of age in the Redcliffe area, who are at risk of either becoming involved in juvenile crime or of further contact with the Youth Justice System. The program aims to increase the capacity of the community to develop local responses that prevent and reduce youth offending. By engaging young people, their families, schools and their community to address factors that contribute to offending, the program will help young people to develop skills that facilitate positive connections and participation in their community, and achieve their potential.
