Obesity summit update

Almost one in four children and half of the adults in Australia are overweight or obese.

This is a serious issue, and it's why the Queensland Premier held an Obesity Summit in May 2006.

The summit gathered ideas from experts and the community to help Queenslanders fight obesity.

This resulted in the Premier announcing $21 million in funding for initiatives over three years including:

These activities build on current government activities such as the Go for 2&5 ® fruit and vegetable campaign; Smart Choices – Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland schools, Get Active Queensland Children and Young People Strategy, and TravelSmart.
