Tips to eat well and be active every day

- Eat a wide variety of food including fruit, vegetables, legumes, bread, cereals, meat, fish and dairy products like milk, cheese and yoghurt.
- Do at least one hour of physical activity, even if it is in 10-15 minute blocks, including walking, cycling and swimming.
- Drink up to eight glasses of water.
- Spend no more than two hours a day watching television or using a computer.
- Start each day with a healthy breakfast, including cereals and fruit.
- Join a local sporting or active recreation club.
- Have regular meals and healthy snacks throughout the day.
- Wear comfortable clothes, supportive shoes and sun protection when getting active outside.
- Avoid eating foods high in sugar, salt and saturated fat like takeaway hamburgers and pizzas, lollies, cakes, biscuits and chips.
- Be a good role model by being active and planning family holidays with plenty of opportunity for physical activity.
