The Department of Communities also supports the activities of the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament.

This is a nine month youth development program that provides training, mentoring, and support to young people with the aim of improving their knowledge of Queensland parliamentary processes and equipping them with the skills to influence Government and community decision making.

This program involves young people aged between 15 and 25 from the 89 electorates in Queensland who are keen to make a difference in their communities. These young people gather to discuss and debate local and statewide policy and advocate for change on the issues that matter to young people within a Queensland parliamentary model.
