The Community Recovery Queensland Facebook page (the page) is managed by the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety (the department).
The page shares information about financial and support services for people impacted by disasters and emergencies.
Grant applications
If you have been affected by a disaster, visit the Disaster support and recovery website to find out if you may be eligible for any grants.
If you have lodged an application with the grants portal and would like an update, please call the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349 for an update.
The Facebook moderators do not have access to the grants portal and cannot provide updates on individual grant applications. For privacy reasons, we do not recommend providing personal information about your grant application on Facebook.
Comments guideline
This is an open forum and we encourage everyone to participate in open and constructive conversation about themes relevant to Community Recovery. We aim to provide a supportive online community that is built on courtesy, kindness and respect.
We monitor this page from 9am to 5pm (AEST) Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) to ensure our community members are not exposed to offensive language, discrimination or manipulative or predatory content. Extended moderation hours may be in place during Community Recovery activation periods.
We encourage you to share your views, but we will remove content that breaches any of the following guidelines (this includes text, graphics, video, GIFs, links and any other content which is posted to the page):
- no profanity, obscenity or vulgarity
- no political content such as comments and links
- no content that could be considered prejudicial, racist or inflammatory
- no posts that divert conversations away from the topic or in a deliberately antagonistic direction
- no gratuitously violent or sexually explicit or offensive terms and imagery
- do not defame an individual or group of people
- do not name call and/or make personal attacks
- do not repetitiously post a single comment on a single post, or a number of posts
- do not post unintelligible content
- do not falsely represent another individual, organisation, government or entity
- do not infringe copyright or intellectual property rights
- do not disclose personal information that identifies an individual, including the commenter (e.g. email addresses, phone numbers or private addresses)
- do not promote a commercial product, service, business, company or organisation.
If a comment causes us to be concerned for the welfare or safety of an individual, we will respond via private message with information about options for addressing those concerns.
We reserve the right to update this policy at any time.
Repeated violations of these guidelines may result in the denial of access to this page.

All content published on the Facebook web platform is governed by Facebook's privacy policy. It is recommended queries regarding grant applications are made by calling the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349. If you seek advice regarding your grant application on Facebook, the department may, in limited circumstances, request your personal information for the purpose of seeking advice from Community Recovery, or you may be advised to contact Community Recovery directly. The information you provide in relation to the grant application will be shared with Community Recovery staff to assist you with your enquiry.
Your personal information will be managed in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).
The department’s Privacy policy contains information about how you can apply to access or correct information the department holds about you and how you can make a privacy complaint if you believe the department has not handled your personal information in accordance with the IP Act.
