The NDIS is designed to provide participants with greater choice and control of the supports they receive. This creates opportunities for businesses that can deliver high quality, participant focused services across a range of support categories, including:

  • Personal care and daily living supports
  • Allied health services
  • Support coordination
  • Community participation programs
  • Employment and training services
  • Assistive technology and equipment

  • Transport and mobility services

Understanding local demand, participant demographics and service gaps can help organisations identify areas for growth and innovation.

Becoming an NDIS Registered Provider

While businesses can provide services to many NDIS participants as an unregistered provider, becoming a registered NDIS provider may allow you to access additional service opportunities and demonstrate compliance with nationally recognised quality and safeguarding standards.

  • Registered providers may:

    • Deliver supports to participants whose funding is agency managed
    • Demonstrate compliance with NDIS Practice Standards
    • Enhance participant confidence and trust
    • Access additional business opportunities within the sector
    • Strengthen governance and risk management practices
    1. Determine Your Registration Groups Identify the supports and services your organisation intends to provide. Different registration groups have different requirements and audit obligations.
    2. Complete an Application
Submit an application to be a registered provider through the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission online registration system, including information about your organisation, governance arrangements and proposed services.
    3. Undergo an Audit
Depending on the services being delivered, organisations must complete either:
      • Verification Audit (generally for lower-risk supports), or
      • Certification Audit (for higher-risk or more complex supports).
    4. Assessment by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission reviews the application and audit outcomes to determine whether registration requirements have been met.
    5. Approval and Ongoing Compliance
Once approved, providers must continue to meet the NDIS Practice Standards, Code of Conduct and other regulatory requirements throughout their registration period.
