Council term
Members of the Council are appointed by the Minister for a term of up to three years.
Council members
Eligible members are remunerated for attendance at official council meetings and all members are reimbursed for reasonable out-of-pocket expenses associated with participating in official council meeting in accordance with the Remuneration Procedures for Part-time Chairs and Members of Queensland Government Bodies .
The council is established under the Disability Services Act 2006 (the Act) and members are appointed by the Queensland Government to advise the Minister on disability-related issues.
Council activities
Activities of the council include:
- attending meetings
- providing advice on disability-related issues
- consulting with people with disability and mainstream and disability sector organisations
- reviewing and advising on government policies and programs to reflect the views of Queenslanders with disability
- undertaking other activities as requested by the Minister.
Meetings are usually held four times per year in Brisbane; however, online forums also occur.
