Community Recovery Roundtable

The Honourable Amanda Camm MP, Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Child Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence convened a Community Recovery Roundtable with key stakeholders from across the community recovery and disaster management sectors held on Friday, 28 August 2026.

The Minister outlined the Queensland Government's response to the 2025–26 disaster season which included more than 50,000 payments being delivered to benefit more than 105,000 Queenslanders.

The Minister also spoke of the Government's priorities and commitments to strengthening preparedness ahead of the 2026–27 disaster season, highlighting the importance of collaboration across government, non-government and community organisations to support Queensland communities before, during and after disasters.

Our department provided an update on Community Recovery operations and preparedness activities. This included the launch of a new Ready Reserve initiative, noting there are now more than 1,300 Queensland public servants registered to be part of the Ready Reserve workforce.

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority led a discussion on disaster season preparedness and the potential impacts of the Commonwealth Government's proposed reforms to Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

Stakeholders were provided with an opportunity to share updates from their organisations, discuss emerging issues, consider the impacts of the reforms to Disaster Recovery Funding arrangements and to identify opportunities for continued collaboration to enhance disaster preparedness, response and recovery across Queensland communities.
