  • Keeping women safe in their home initiative

    Keeping women safe in their home (KWSITH) is a key initiative of the Australian Government’s National plan to end violence against women and children 2022–2032​​ and is part of a coordinated cross-government response with the aim to enhance home security and the personal safety of women and their children impacted by domestic and family violence.

  • Legislative changes

    We have taken swift action to amend Queensland laws to ensure we have a robust, cohesive legislative framework that puts the safety and security of victims first, sends a clear message to perpetrators that domestic and family violence is not tolerated, and supports the broader systemic reforms underway.

  • Police Protection Directions

    From 1 January 2026, police can issue on-the-spot 12-month Police Protection Directions to provide immediate protection to victim-survivors of domestic and family violence, and hold persons using violence accountable.

    WorkUP Queensland offers workforce development and training to help meet growing demand for the state's specialist sexual violence, women's health, domestic and family violence services.
