Disability Service Plan
A message from the Director-General
The Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety is committed to fostering inclusion and ensuring Queenslanders with disability are safe, supported, and empowered to thrive socially and economically. With 1.2 million Queenslanders with disability—around one in five people—our work is central to building a State where everyone can participate fully in community, social, and economic life.
The department provides direct disability services to over 500 clients with intellectual disability, and approximately one third of the children in the Child Safety system have a disability.
People with disability are at the heart of everything we do.
The department's Disability Service Plan 2026–2029 reflects this commitment by promoting human rights, strengthening co-design, and improving the accessibility and quality of services for people with disability. It focuses on measuring outcomes and impact, while driving enduring cultural and systemic change across the department and the services we support.
