Mr Bob Atkinson AO APM (Co-Chair)

Bob Atkinson served a 44-year career with the Queensland Police Service, including as Commissioner from 2000 until his retirement in 2012. Throughout his career, he was known for his commitment to community safety, multicultural inclusion and building strong relationships across the community. Following his retirement, Bob continued his service as a Commissioner on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and through a range of advisory roles focused on justice, child protection and community wellbeing. An Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) and recipient of the Australian Police Medal (APM), his experience and leadership continue to inform important conversations about safer communities.
