Mrs Leonie Taylor MSW MSQ MAASW

Leonie Taylor is a community leader, advocate for vulnerable young people and the Indigenous community, and a social worker with over 32 years' experience in the field. Leonie has worked across many areas including child protection, DFV, counselling and therapy, higher education, legislation and policy development, and advocacy. A descendant of the Djaku-nde people of the North Burnett, the Juru and Birri people of Bowen, and Nuigi people of Mulgumpin (Moreton Island), Leonie is also Australian South Sea Islander from Tanna, Santo and Lifu Islands in Vanuatu. She has assisted in the establishment of community organisations, including as a founding member of Gallang Place in Brisbane, and served on various not-for-profit boards, committees and organisations. Drawing on strong cultural connections and decades of experience working alongside communities, she champions programs that create pathways to safety, confidence, and independence for young people facing significant social and economic challenges.
