Our past progress to address domestic, family and sexual violence

The Queensland Government has made significant progress in implementing the reform program set out by the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce (the Taskforce) in its reports Hear her voice – Report One – Addressing coercive control and domestic and family violence in Queensland and Hear her voice – Report Two – Women and girls’ experiences across the criminal justice system, and the reform program set out by the Independent Commission of Inquiry into Queensland Police Service responses to domestic and family violence (Commission of Inquiry).

All recommendations have been delivered in response to the landmark Not now, not ever report of the Special Taskforce on Domestic and Family Violence in Queensland. The Delivery of recommendations—Not now, not ever: Putting an end to domestic and family violence in Queensland report provides a snapshot of activities undertaken by government and non-government organisations to implement each of the 140 recommendations as at 30 September 2019.

We know significant reform takes time and there is still more to do.

Our actions were underpinned and guided by our former Domestic and family violence prevention strategy 2016–2026 and supporting action plans.
